Linux vs Windows

An interesting article in this month’s SC magazine comparing Windows and Linux through the eyes of Professor Richard Ford (for Linux) and Herbert Thompson (against). Professor Ford believes that Linux is more secure than Windows, but confesses that he is unclear about what “more secure” actually means. His bottom line: he doesn’t intend to move to Windows Server 2003 (even though he admits that both Windows and Linux provide robust and secure solutions) because “what matters is familiarity…” and, as he’s been using Linux for over a decade, that’s the one he’s going with.

So much for scientific debate.
